We're very lucky to have Peter Letzbor as our on-site Master Jeweller, with over 40 years experience and a passion for design, he remembers almost every piece he has ever made, which in itself is astonishing given he makes about 150 rings a year.

Peter says, "When a customer gives me a hug and says i'm so happy; and when they appreciate their handmade piece and really enjoy wearing it, that is the nicest thing for me".

Peter trained in Vienna, Austria and after completing his apprenticeship went onto further training to became a Master Jeweller in 1978. He was trained the traditional way, when every piece was made by hand. He then went onto to become the Master Jeweller for the then well renown, Bruce and Walsh Jewellers in King St Sydney for some twenty years.

It was working there that he got a big surprise one day when Paul Hogan came into the store and ordered a ring for Linda Koslowski.

Peter says, "I love working at Whitneys as it is a small family jewellers and because it has a fully operational workshop, everything is handmade on the premise and these days that is rare". He then went onto share with some sadness that the industry has become very commercial with mass produced cast jewellery made overseas.

"I thought I'd just come out to Whitney's and help over Christmas, well that was four years ago now and I love Dubbo and working with this family".

He says his career highlights include travelling to and purchasing stones from South America, "This was very special as I got to choose the best stones".

"Another highlight was entering a number of my pieces in the DeBeers International Diamond Show, along side the best of the best in the industry".

With this remarkable career under his belt Peter is very much at home in our workshop, creating one-off pieces and practicing the craft he holds so dearly. We are very proud to be able to offer our customers the services of our onsite jeweller and continue to uphold the reputation that Whitneys has built over the 91 years of business in Dubbo.
